The larger bowl is 24 oz. and the smaller bowl is 12 oz.
Can it be used for dry cat food also?
Yes, it can also be used with dry food.
Can the heating element be removed after the winter season to allow year-round use?
The heating element cannot be removed, but you could simply leave the unit unplugged when heat is not required.
Will the heating element be damaged if the water evaporates while the unit is plugged in?
No, this will not damage the heating element.
What grade of stainless steel is used in the Thermo-Kitty Cafe bowls?
The bowls are made of a 302 stainless steel.
If I only want to use the large bowl for water, should I remove the small bowl from the heating base? Can I leave an empty bowl in the heating base or should I put water on both sides? I do plan on using both sides occasionally, but only one side most of the time.
It would not be necessary to remove the small bowl from the base. You can leave it empty if you'd like.
How long is the cord?
The cord is 5.5 feet long.
Can I use an extension cord with this product?
MET requires that all manufacturers put the extension cord statement “Do not use with extension cord” on every item that is MET listed by UL 499 standards. This is because they cannot test every extension cord on the market in conjunction with our products for safety. Also, MET suggests that an extension cord is not recommended as a permanent fixture and should only be a temporary solution when using any electrical product.
